Members must pay their annual subscription before competing in any club events.


Due to the Child Protection Act we are required to strictly enforce the following rule:

Every child under 18 years old must be accompanied by a parent/guardian over the age of 18 at all times when on club property whether competing or spectating.

Age
1. Childrens ages are taken from the 1st January of the current year. Age on the 1st January must be shown on membership form.
2. No horse or pony under 4 years old will be allowed to take part in any of our ridden events.

 

DRESS

At all Open and Club shows members are expected to dress correctly for the discipline they are entering.

1. A hat which conforms to current European Safety Standards

2. Plain, light coloured jodhpurs with either long boots or jodhpur boots.

3. A show jacket, a plain shirt with either a tie or sock. Club sweatshirts are permitted at  Rallies. Correct dress at the end of Season Show is a show jacket NOT a sweatshirt.

4. Gloves are compulsory for Dressage

5. Whips and spurs may NOTbe used in Gymkhana games.

6. In the interests of safety, long hair should be fastened in a hairnet and no jewellery should be worn.

7. Back protectors and medical armbands are COMPULSORY for cross country and highly recommended for show jumping.

8. Riding hats when worn for cross country must not have a fixed peak.

9. Long sleeves must be worn when competing

Hiring of Facilities

1.Club facilities are not available to non members and their horse/pony.

2.Hiring of Simms Hill show jumping area for the purpose of giving or receiving lessons is not permitted.

3. Members on their own horse/pony may hire the Simms Hill Show Jumping Area subject to the ground being fit to ride on.
TWO adults must accompany members. Cost £5 per horse/pony. Jumps must be put back as found; otherwise future hire will be refused.
Appropriate fee to be paid when booking the field. Failure to do so will result in the member losing the right to hire the field.

4. The Simms Hill Cross Country course will not be available for hire to any individual.

 

Horses

At Open events, horse classes are for horses OVER 148cm



Lead Rein

In the gymkhana events, the leader is required to wear a hard hat, gloves and sensible shoes.
The pony must be lead from the shoulder and the lead rein may only be attached to the back of the noseband.

If a Junior is competes in the Dressage & Show jumping on a horse they may still compete in the gymkhana section a pony.

Riders must compete in their own age section in gymkhana and dressage.

Horse classes are restricted to riders aged 17yrs and over and any junior member who has moved onto competing horses who therefore can no longer compete in any pony show jumping class.


Members Only End of Season Trophy Show

At the end of each season there will be an End of Season Club Members Trophy Show. The winner of each class will hold an EDRC perpetual trophy for a year. The onus is on competitors to show fairness in which classes they take part.

Horse and Pony show jumping classes are combined but seperate trophies awarded for each.

A junior may show jump both a horse and a pony but not in the same height class. i.e. You may jump in the novice class on a horse but not the novice class on a pony. This applies to all classes.

Riders must compete in their own age section in dressage and gymkhana.



General

THE CROSS COUNTRY COURSE AT SIMMS HILL IS CLOSED TO ALL RIDERS EXCEPT ON DESIGNATED DATES. ANY MEMBER FOUND BREAKING THIS RULE WILL BE EXPELLED FROM THE CLUB. NON MEMBERS AT OPEN EVENTS WILL BE ASKED TO LEAVE THE SHOW. THIS IS FOR HEALTH AND SAFETY REASONS.

Rude, abusive or threatening behaviour will not be tolerated at any show or event. Anyone behaving in an unacceptable manner will be asked to leave, members or non members.

At all events ponies/horses must be ridden quietly with consideration to other competitors and spectators. 

Cantering/galloping outside competitive areas is dangerous & not allowed. Lunging only in safe areas.

When riding on public roads, members are reminded to ride carefully and to show courtesy and respect to other road users.

When competing at our Hunter Trials two falls of rider and/or one fall of horse and you must retire from the course.

THERE WILL BE NO EXCEPTION TO THIS RULE

You are strongly advised to obtain third party insurance.
